James 'Bud' Mock

James "Bud" L. Mock, 72, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at the ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital.

He was born on October 7, 1941, to James and Edna (Balliett) Mock in Van Wert, Ohio. On December 23, 1961, he married Nancy (Fockler) Mock.

Bud was a millwright for GM Powertrain for 36 years, retiring in 1997. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Defiance VFW Post 3360 and the Defiance County Fish & Game. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the lake. He was an avid NASCAR/Dale Ernhardt fan and liked the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

Bud is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy; sons, Mark (Loretta) Mock of Ney, Steven (Christina) Mock of Paulding, Jeff (Deb) Mock of Ayersville; daughter, Theresa Thiel of Defiance; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Betty) Mock of Ney; and a sister, Joyce of Bryan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today, December 19, 2013, at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastor Sam Mock officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the VFW Post 3360, will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
