MAUMEE -- Eric James Battershell, 33, died Saturday, December 7, 2013, in Maumee, Ohio.
He was born on October 31, 1980, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Jim and Leesa (Kemerer) Battershell. Eric was a 1999 graduate of Hicksville High School and Four County Career Center. He was also a graduate of the Ohio State University, where he received a BS in civil engineering. He was currently enrolled in the University of Toledo masters program in sciences and math. Eric was previously employed in New York City as a civil engineer and was currently a private physics tutor. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hicksville, Toledo Astronomy Club and a photographer.
Eric is survived by his parents; a brother, Ryan (Kimberly) of White House, Ohio; grandparents, Jim and Mary Battershell of Hicksville and grandmother Mary Kemerer-Peter of Hicksville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Kemerer; stepgrandfather, Kermit Peter; and uncles Bob Battershell and Mike Kemerer.
Funeral services for Eric will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St Michael's Catholic Church, Hicksville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.
