ARCHBOLD -- Sadie V. Stuckey, 92, of Archbold, passed away early Saturday morning, December 7, 2013, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.
She was born August 6, 1921, near Gore, Va., the daughter of Russel and May (Brill) Heishman. Her mother passed away when she was 21 months and she then was raised by her aunt and uncle, Ira and Damie Heishman in Harrisonburg, Va. She married Orville D. "Shorty" Stuckey on October 12, 1944, and he preceded her in death on April 24, 2002. She lived in the Archbold area since 1944, and with her husband enjoyed spending winters in Bradenton, Fla. She was a registered nurse, working in private duty in area hospitals and homes. She volunteered with Red Cross over 30 years, and at Care & Share, and was an active member of the Lockport Mennonite Church, rural Stryker.
She is survived by three children, Jane Stuckey of Archbold, Terry Stuckey of Somerset, Mich., and Randy Stuckey of Archbold; two grandchildren, Matthew (Ashley) Stuckey of Elkhart, Ind., and Leah Stuckey of Chicago, Ill.; three cousins (who she saw as brothers and sisters), Maxine Bowman, Donald Heishman and Roy Heishman; three half siblings, Irvin Heishman, Rhoda Martin and Carol Parker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Rosco Heishman; and half brother, James Heishman.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Lockport Mennonite Church with Pastor Gloria Beck officiating. Interment will precede at 10 a.m. in the Lockport Cemetery. Friends may call at Fairlawn Chapel from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday.
