EVANSPORT -- William H. "Bill" Spangler, 75, of Evansport, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013, at Genesis - Twin Rivers Nursing Home, Defiance.
Bill was born December 23, 1937, in Bryan, the son of Carl and Thelma (Missler) Spangler. He married Cleona J. Lutz on August 29, 1966, in Bryan. Bill was a machine operator for Johns Manville for 37 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Restoration Fellowship, Defiance. Bill was known to be an excellent wine maker. He also enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, especially rooting for Sam Hornish Jr. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
Surviving are his wife, Cleona of Evansport; five children, Kym (James) Kurtz of Edgerton, Ohio, Dennis (Kristian) Spangler of Sherwood, Ohio, Christine (Bruce) Alwood of Toledo, Ohio, Kevin (Susanna) Spangler of Edgerton and Denise (Chris) Norrick of Montpelier, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Marty Spangler of Bryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services for William H. "Bill" Spangler will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity, with Pastor Janet Strickland officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 225 East High Street, Bryan.
