NAPOLEON -- June A. Mengerink, 87, of Napoleon, Ohio, died peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2013, at her residence.
She was born on June 30, 1926, at home in Flatrock Township, Ohio, to the late Clarence and Margaret (Bortz) Weber. On November 5, 1950, she married Carson F. Mengerink, who preceded her in death on May 4, 1987.
June worked at Tenneco, Napoleon, for over 25 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Holgate. She was a member of the Moose Lodge, AMVETS, Elks Lodge, VFW, and the American Legion, all of Napoleon. Her hobbies included sewing, baking, gardening, and collecting owls. She was also an avid "Buckeye" fan.
She is survived by daughters, Pam (Frank) Wetmore of Toledo and Cindy Mengerink of Napoleon; grandchildren, David (Victoria) Wetmore, Dawn (Jacob) Forrest, Dennis (Aimee) Wetmore, and Christopher Houchins; great-grandchildren, Antonio, Brian, Kiley, and Kane; stepchildren, Carson Mengerink of Smithville, Tenn., Diane Metheney of Findlay, and Fred (Judy) Mengerink of Upper Sandusky; stepgrandchildren, Brenda, Tina, Rita, Jeremy, Kim, Bryan, and Nick; and 12 great-stepgrandchildren; brother, Melvin (Joann) Weber, and sister, Esther Bischoff, both of Napoleon.
She was also preceded in death by brothers, Dick, Harold, Ken, and Carl; sisters, Rosie Miller, Donna Page, Ruth Coressel and Mary Hahn; and stepgrandson, Gary.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, at St. John's UCC Church, Holgate, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, where a Women of the Moose memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
