KEYSTONE HTS., Florida -- Esther Jean Cloer, 90, Keystone Hts., Florida, died Friday, October 11, 2013, in her home.
She was born on December 14, 1922, to Robert and Mamie (Frank-forther) Modrall of Toledo. On March 1,
1946, she married John B. Cloer, who survives.
Also surviving are a brother, Donald Modrall, sister-in-law Pat, brother-in-law Ben Wood, daughter Luann, son Brad and his wife Diane, daughter-in-law Linda, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, sister Margaret Wood, brother Erin Modrall, sister-in-law Lynn Modrall, stillborn son Timothy A., and son John Douglas.
Esther lived much of her life in Defiance, was the ultimate mother, and while an active volunteer in the church, hospitals and community, she truly devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, music and she especially loved to sing, having been blessed by God with an angelic voice. Singing hymns in church each Sunday and nearly every day at home during the week, she shared her blessings with everyone in her life, and brought joy to all who knew her. She certainly now sings praises to the Lord with the other angels in heaven, as God has called her home.
Esther and her husband John were members of the First Baptist Church in Defiance, and later Emmanuel Baptist after returning to Toledo. The couple later retired to Florida.
There will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements are pending.
Preferred memorials are to Emmanuel Baptist Church in Toledo, or Community Hospice of Northeast Florida in Jacksonville.
