PAYNE -- Robert P. Tempel, 85, of Payne, passed away at home Saturday, October 19, 2013.
Bob was born in Paulding, Ohio, on July 12, 1928, a son of the late Esther (Beamer) and Rupert Tempel. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a machinist at Essex Wire for 21 years and Uniroyal Goodrich for 22 years. He also enjoyed fishing. He was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish and Payne American Legion Post 297.
On Sept. 2, 1950, he married Marlene Harting.
Bob will be fondly remembered by his wife, Marlene; children, Tom (Kim Waldschmidt) of Ft. Wayne, Judy (Dwight) Redmon of Napoleon, Bobbi (Todd) Champany and Jeff (Sheila), both of Payne, Dan (Deb) of New Haven, IN, and Amy (Brad) Yenser, Payne; sister, Jean Zartman of Payne; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Viewing is Tuesday, 3-7:30 p.m., with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 SR 500, Payne, where viewing is also Wednesday, 9-9:30 a.m.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Payne, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Bob will be laid to rest at Lehman Cemetery, with military honors.
