Marcella Hedrick, 88, Defiance, passed away peacefully Tuesday Oct. 15, 2013, at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center after a short battle with cancer.
Marcella was born in Paulding County on Sept. 17, 1925, to Joseph and Margaret (Weber) Siler. In 1947, she married John R. Hedrick, who preceded her in death in 1993. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John Catholic Church, Defiance.
She is survived by a daughter, Deborah (Marvin) Hageman of Defiance; a son, Dennis (Joan) Hedrick, Continental; and four grandchildren, Brent (Dina) Hageman of Las Vegas, Nev., Brian (Jenni) Hageman of Wauseon, and Curt Hedrick and Cobin (Ryan) Vennekotter, both of Continental. There are also four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Cletus; special sister-in-law, Helen (Bunny) Delventhal; and a very good friend, James Wallar, all of Defiance.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three sisters, Verona Hohenberger, Dorothy Varner and Beatrice Lloyd; and a brother, Victor Siler.
Marcella's wishes were to have no visitation. There will be a funeral mass at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Catholic Church with Father Todd Dominique officiating.
Preferred memorials are to CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center or Dana Cancer Center at UTMC, Toledo, Ohio.
