BRYAN -- Shirley Rose Delbecq, 71, formerly of Hicksville, died Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at Hillside Country Living, Bryan, Ohio.
She was born on December 31, 1941, in Napoleon, Ohio, the daughter of Paul and Kathrine (Drittler) Lohse. She was a graduate of Ridgeville High School. On November 28, 1964, she was united in marriage with Robert B. Delbecq. Shirley worked at Eastern Air Lines during her younger years, and had fond memories of that time and always had the desire to travel. She later worked at Campbell Soup Company.
She was loved by her sons and made a wonderful home while raising them. She was a great cook, enjoyed sewing and knitting. She was devoted to her husband, Bob, as he was to her.
The family wishes to extend gratitude to all at Hillside Country Living for years of care, and to Gentiva Hospice.
Shirley was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hicksville, and its Rosary Alter Society. She was a lay distributor and a CCD instructor. She was also a member of Defiance County Homemakers Club.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; three sons, Mark (Leigh) of Westerville, Ohio, Chad of Bowling Green, Ohio, Brian (Sandy) of Pleasanton, Calif.; two grandchildren, Jack and Jessica Delbecq; a brother, Paul Lohse; two sisters, Linda Hannawalt, Mary Jane Conner.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Larry Lohse; and sister Patricia Weber.
Funeral services for Shirley will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with Father David Cirata officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. the same day. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.
