WAVERLY, Iowa -- Rev. Arnold Ferdinand Imbrock, 90, formerly of Hamler, Ohio, died Oct. 4, 2013, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly.
Arnold was born Sept. 30, 1923, the son of Ferdinand W. and Luella (Buchenberg) Imbrock in Deshler, Ohio. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army. In 1947, he began his pastoral studies at Wartburg College, Waverly. On Dec. 26, 1947, he married Helen Maassel at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamler. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Waverly, of many clubs and organizations, a member and chaplain of the American Legion Post 176. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, flowers and being around people.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Imbrock of Waverly, Iowa; four sons, Dr. James (Colleen) Imbrock, Omaha, Neb., Timothy (Rebecca) Imbrock, Boulder, Colo., Stephen (Garnet) Imbrock, Foxfire, N.C., and Daniel Imbrock, Cross Lake, Minn.; two daughters, Ruth (Terry) Hershberger, Napoleon, Ohio, and Rachel Imbrock, Hopkins, Minn.; four granddaughters; brother, Alvin Imbrock, Hamler; and sister, Bertha Fischer, Waterville, Ohio.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Lawrence; and sister, Paula Cordes.
Services are Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Waverly. Pastor Joyce Sandberg will officiate. Burial is in the church cemetery, with military rites. Calling is from 4-7 p.m. today at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, and an hour prior to services at the church Tuesday.
