GALLOWAY -- Mary Judith Popowski, 70, of Galloway, died Monday, September 30, 2013.
She was born August 19, 1943, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Doyt and Mary (Jones) Brown. She was a 1961 graduate of Continental-Palmer High School, Continental, Ohio, and a 1965 graduate of Defiance College, Defiance, Ohio. She married Howard John Popowski on January 2, 1963. She taught French and Spanish at Southwestern Local Schools, Defiance County, Ohio, from 1965-66. From 1967-78, she was a job counselor with Ohio Job Bureau, Defiance, Ohio, and supervisor at the central office in Columbus, Ohio, from 1978 until her retirement in 1997. She enjoyed gardening, reading and her grandchildren. She was loved and respected by all, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She was preceded in death by her son, Alan Popowski. She is survived by Howard, her loving husband; sisters, Jane Brinck and Barbara Trame; grandchildren, Chelsea and Zack Popowski; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and her four cats.
A memorial service will be held Friday, October 4, 2013, at 7 p.m. at Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus.
