NAPOLEON -- Daniel L. Kruse, 59, of Napoleon, passed away Friday, September 27, 2013, at Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon.
He was born on November 16, 1953, the son of the late Edwin and Carolina (VonSeggern) Kruse. On January 17, 1976, he married Karen Weber at St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Twp.
Dan graduated from Napoleon High School in 1971. He attended Four County Joint Vocational School from where he acquired the love for horticulture, growing and maintaining landscape plants and the knowledge of caring for lawns. He was a farmer and landscaper, owning and operating Dan Kruse Landscaping, which he started in 1978.
There were two things he loved, which was his family and work. He taught his family and others the meaning and importance of hard work. Dan was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Twp.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Karen, of Napoleon; sons; Ben Kruse and Todd (Brenda) Kruse all of Napoleon, and Zak Kruse of Columbus; a daughter, Stacie (Andy Zartman) of Greenfield, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Lillian Kruse, Trenton, Colton, Landen and Garrison Kruse, and Ellie and Isaac Zartman; sisters, Vernie (Jon) Miller of New Palestine, Indiana, and Lori (Brian) Bickel of Napoleon; and a brother, Tom (Becky) Kruse of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Darlene Schwiebert and Marietta McNiel; and a brother, Eldon Kruse.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom, Twp., with Pastor Stephen Niermann officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home and on Tuesday one hour prior to the services at St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom, Twp.
