BRADENTON, Fla. -- Berneta M. Harper, 93, of Bradenton, Florida (previously Ridgeville Corners, Ohio), passed away at 5:30 a.m. September 20, 2013, at Tarpon Point Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.
She was born August 4, 1920, in Henry County, Ohio, to William and Lydia Eberle. In 1940, she married James A. Harper, who preceded her in death in 1979. She worked at Sheller Gloubeir in Wauseon, Ohio, for many years and relocated to Florida in 2002. She was a previous member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Defiance, Ohio, and a current member of Faith United Church of Christ in Bradenton, Florida.
She is survived by a son, Jay Harper, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and daughter, Patricia Osborne, Bradenton, Fla. She also has seven grandchildren, Jodie Harper and Tonia Harper of Columbus, Ohio, Kevin (Dawn) Harper of Napoleon, Ohio, Eric Harper of Defiance, Ohio, Tammie (Rick) Sharp of Liberty Center, Ohio, Jamie Stark of Waldorf, Md., and Amie (Denny) Krontz, Bryan, Ohio; as well as nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rozella Hartly; and daughter-in-law, R. Anne Harper.
A family service will be held in Defiance, Ohio, on Oct. 26, 2013. Memorials can be made in Berneta's name to the American Cancer Society or Faith United Church of Christ, 4850 Ohio 64, Bradenton, Fla. 34208.
