HAMLER -- Matilda M. "Tillie" Bishop, 92, of Hamler, Ohio, died early Saturday morning, September 21, 2013, at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green, Ohio.
She was born January 28, 1921, in Bartlow Township, Henry County, Ohio, to the late Mathias and Minnie (Tietje) Petersen. On September 29, 1946, she married Billy B. Bishop at St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler, and he preceded her in death on May 31, 1997.
Tillie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She worked for over 13 years at the former Koppenhoffer Bros./IMCO Poultry, Deshler. She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Hamler, where she was a former Sunday School teacher; and a member of Warren L. McIntire American Legion Post 262 Auxiliary, Hamler.
She is survived by four children, Mathew Bishop of Leipsic, Ohio; Colleen (Tim) Phillips of Hamler; Barbara (Robert) Gerken of Hamler, and Bonnie (Robert) Blake, Carmel, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Norma Rosebrook, Deshler.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, T.J. Phillips; great-grandson, Timmy Phillips; and three brothers, Victor Petersen; Robert Houser and Alfred Petersen.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Hamler, with Rev. Tamara Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Township Cemetery, Hamler. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday prior to the services at the church.
