HARLAN, Ind. -- Claribell Hammon, 92, Harlan, died Saturday, September 21, 2013, at Kingston Residence, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born in Wauseon, Ohio, on August 6, 1921, the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Mable (Hillis) Burkholder. Claribell was a 1939 graduate of Wauseon High School. On June 1, 1952, she was united in marriage to Roger Hammon and he preceded her in death in April of 2009.
Claribell retired from Lincoln Life Insurance Company, Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was a member of North Scipio United Methodist Church where she was a member of the UMW. She was also a member of the Allen County Homemakers Club.
Claribell is survived by a daughter, Sherri (Jon) Skekloff of Holland, Michigan; a son, Jerry (Marianne) Hammon of Woodburn, Indiana; grandchildren, Stacy, Austin and Nathan; and nephews, John and Chris Burkholder of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; and a brother, Ward Burkholder.
Funeral services for Claribell will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at North Scipio United Methodist Church, Harlan, Indiana, with Pastor Phil Abram officiating. Burial will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in Independence Cemetery, Florida, Ohio. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, Ohio. There will also be one hour visitation at the church before the service.
