NORTH CREEK -- Hobert I. Dockery, 80, of North Creek, died at 10:14 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2013, at his residence. He was born June 8, 1933, in Wise County, Virginia, to the late Audley and Bertha (Baker) Dockery. On May 26, 1970, he married Martha Charlene Smith, who survives in North Creek.

He is also survived by his seven children, Katherine Muncy of Continental, Tammy (Paul) Nerad of Ney, Martha (John) Altherr of Bowling Green, Brenda (Curtis) O'Connor of Farmer, Isaac (Sebrena) Dockery of North Creek, Melinda (Mike) Walker of Tiffin and Shelly Dockery of Continental; 26 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister-in-law, Florence Dockery of Continental.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Kingrey; a son-in-law, Lonnie Muncy; three brothers Kedrick, Everett, and Jimmy Dockery; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.

Hobert owned and operated North Creek Implement. He retired from General Motors, where he was a member of the UAW Local 211 in Defiance. He enjoyed his antique tractors and cars. He was of the Baptist faith; was a life-long country music lover and loved playing the guitar. At a young age, he played music for Kingsport radio in Tennessee.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2013, at the Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental, with Rev. Rex Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today and one hour prior to service on Monday at the funeral home.
