NAPOLEON -- Dennis William Spieth, 65, of Napoleon, Ohio, died Thursday, September 12, 2013, at his residence.
He was born February 13, 1948, at S.M. Heller Memorial Hospital to Clarence and Carolyn (Casteel) Spieth, Jr. who preceded him in death.
On November 26, 2010, he married Linda (Groves) Spieth, and she survives. Dennis is survived by three children, Kelly (Kevin) Kneip of Napoleon, Kirk (Katie) Spieth of Flossmoor, Ill., and Kyle Spieth of Napoleon. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Owen and Kenasyn Kneip and Hadley and Harper Spieth. He is survived by his brother, Gregg (Carol) Spieth of Tampa, Fla., and Becky Spring of Lakeview, Ohio.
He worked for many years at C.F. Gerken and retired in 2011 from E.S. Wagner, Co. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on October 24, 1967, and served in Vietnam, being honorably discharged on October 23, 1973. During his service he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Accommodation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal and the citation of Sharpshooter M-14.
He was a member of the Napoleon American Legion, Bert G. Taylor Post 300, Arthur Dan Petersen AMVETS, Moose Lodge 778, Elks Lodge 4428 and the Luther R. Kolbe VFW, where he was currently serving as commander.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by Napoleon Joint Veteran Posts. Visitation will be held today from 2-8 p.m., and Monday from 10-11 a.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon.
