OAKWOOD -- Clyde "Bud" R. Hunter, 65, of rural Oakwood, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday morning, September 11, 2013, at ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital.
He was born in Pineville, Ky., on August 29, 1948, the son of the late Clyde and Dora (Hubbard) Hunter. Clyde accepted his Lord as his personal savior in 1972. He was a trustee and member of Continental Missionary Baptist Church, a Sunday school superintendent, and served in the U.S. Navy. He had worked for GM Central Foundry for 33 years, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, construction, woodworking and spoiling his grandchildren
He married Thelma (Crisp) Hunter on Aug. 25, 1973, and she survives.
Clyde will be greatly missed by his wife of 40 years, Thelma; daughter, Amy (John) McMaster of Paulding; son, Keith (Sheila) Hunter of Paulding; sister, Deloras Hicks of Columbus Grove; brothers, Ronald Hunter of Columbus Grove, Donald Hunter of Columbus Grove, Robert (Linda) Hunter of Lima. He is also the proud grandfather of five grandchildren, Emma McMaster, Julia McMaster, Katelyn Hunter, Titus Hunter and Kylee Hunter.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Meyers; and his parents.
Services are at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, 1753 S. Clinton St., Defiance, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, September 14, with Rev. Terry Brock and Rev. Denny Hunter officiating. Visitation for Clyde will be Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. before services at Lawson-Roessner. Burial will be in Hedges Cemetery.
