NAPOLEON -- Lawrence W. Lange, 96, of Napoleon, went to his heavenly home on August 28, 2013, surrounded by his family at the Lutheran Home of Napoleon.
He was born December 14, 1916, in Napoleon Township, Henry County, to the late Herman H. and Caroline (Badenhop) Lange. On March 24, 1937, he married Lena Babcock, Liberty Center, and they celebrated 76 years together before she was taken home on March 8, 2013.
In addition to farming, he served the community as the General Electric repair man. He also worked at Zeller Corporation and Automatic Screw Machine in Defiance, making ammunition for World War II. He served on several boards, including the American Cancer Society for 30 years. He was a Sunday school teacher and member of Westhope Bible Church.
He is survived by daughters, Jeanne Balog, Carol Stream, Ill., Lucille (Dale) Eickmeier, Westhope, Ohio, and Lois (Dave) Powers, San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; grandchildren, Joyce (Dan) Cotto-Thorner, Doug Balog, Glenn (Ada) Balog, Stan Balog, Gloria (Jim) Truax, Sharon Balog, Dan (Ann) Eickmeier, Laurie Lawrence, Cindy (John) Arps, Mary (Dennis) Moszkowicz, Gina (Vince) Ambrose, Julie (Dave) Mazza, Kevin (Heather) Powers, Greg (Aly) Powers and Jeff (LaNe) Powers; 38 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Also preceding him in death were a sister, Frances; stepfather, Alvin Vorwerk; grandsons, Steve Serrao and Jeremy Powers; son-in-law, Ralph Balog; and grandson-in-law, Ernie Lawrence.
A memorial service will be held on October 12, 2013, at 2 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to service at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon.
