LIBERTY CENTER -- James E. Long, 66, of Liberty Center, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2013.
He retired from Campbell Soup, Napoleon, in 2003, and later owned and operated Long's Catering with his wife, Terry, for four years. He was a member of the SAL of the Delta American Legion Post 373 for the past two years and helped cater all of its events.
He was born on May 7, 1947, in Weston, Ohio, to Clair and Lillian Long. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Chuck Long. He married Terry Zinn on July 15, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Terry Long of Liberty Center; daughters, Sandra (Steve) Davis, Christine Hanson; sons, James (Kara) Long Jr., Jason Long; six grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Evelyn) Long, Paul (Connie) Long, all of Napoleon; stepson, Thomas Zinn of Toledo; stepdaughter, Traci Zinn (Eric) Schultz, of Defiance; and three stepgrandchildren.
As a chef, his favorite activities were cooking for and being around family and friends. Among his many hobbies, Jim could always be counted on for help with construction/DIY projects and spent much of his free time gardening, landscaping and hunting with his dog, Maxx.
On Jim's behalf, our family wishes to extend a very warm thank you to his friends, and the Delta Legion and auxiliary for your love and much support throughout this trying time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the donor's choice.
Friends and family will be received at Wright-Habegger Funeral Home, 302 E. Maple St., Liberty Center, Ohio, on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m., with SAL services at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013, also at Wright-Habegger Funeral Home at 11 a.m.
