RIDGEVILLE CORNERS -- Norma M. Gerken, 86, of Ridgeville Corners, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center on Saturday, August 24, 2013.
She was born October 3, 1926, to the late Herman C. and Francis H. (Coulon) Bostelman. On May 16, 1948, she married Donald F. Gerken at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Okolona, Ohio. He preceded her in death on July 1, 2007.
Norma was a homemaker and was employed by McCord Corporation in Wauseon, Ohio, for 30 years, retiring in 1988. Following her retirement she enjoyed providing childcare for many children. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and her husband loved attending polka dances and, on occasion, the Low German Club activities. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ridgeville Corners.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Pam (Bob) Brown of Defiance, Ohio, and son-in-law, Stan Wiemken of Napoleon, Ohio; grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Bush of Plain City, Ohio, Kelly Brown of Dublin, Ohio, Shawna (Jason) Maassel of Napoleon, Ohio, Kristina (Adam) Glaser and Lindsay Wiemken, both of Toledo, Ohio, and Jonathan Wiemken of Napoleon, Ohio; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Wiemken; and a brother, Carl Bostelman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ridgeville Corners, with Pastor Vicky Coombs officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon, and 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
