DESHLER -- Janis Ann "Petie" Parker, of Deshler, went to her heavenly rest on Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Oak Grove Care Center in Deshler.
Janis was born on August 1, 1946, in Wauseon, Ohio. Her parents were Helen (Brodbeck) and Wayne Semer, who preceded her in death. She married Dennis Parker on December 23, 1965, and he survives.
Also surviving are her son, Dennis "Joe" (Vanessa) Parker Jr. of St. Augustine, Florida; and her daughter, Tracy (Tim) Black of Deshler. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Autumn (Stephen) Dehner, Sam, Ben, Jake Black, and Apryl Parker, as well as two great-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Landon Dehner. Also surviving is her brother, Wayne (Melissa) Semer, Jr. of Bryan, as well as many sisters- and brothers-in-law, loving nieces and nephews, "adopted" sons from Consolidated Biscuit Company in McComb, and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother, John Semer; and an infant sister, Wayna.
She was a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church of Deshler, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, board secretary and on other committees. She was the current treasurer, member, and past vice president of the Henry County Fair Board. She was also an avid supporter of the Patrick Henry music department and quiz team. She retired from Consolidated Biscuit Company in McComb, where she worked for many years. She also served for several years as a poll worker and presiding judge for the village of Deshler.
Funeral services for Janis Parker will be held on Wednesday, August 28, at New Beginnings United Methodist Church, beginning at 2 p.m., followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 2-9 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home in Deshler.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to local Emmaus communities or a charity of the donor's choice.
