RIDGEVILLE CORNERS -- Arnold W. Ripke, of Ridgeville Corners, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2012, at Country View Haven in Napoleon, Ohio.
He was born May 7, 1920, in Ridgeville Township, to the late Theodore and Meta (Sunderman) Ripke. On January 3, 1943, he married Luciel L. Hesterman in Hamler, Ohio.
Arnold was a farmer, an assistant highway superintendent for the state of Ohio, and a school bus driver for Ridgeville Local School. He was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ridgeville Corners, where he had held many positions. He was a former Ridgeville Township trustee and a member of the Henry County Democratic Party.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Luciel of Ridgeville Corners; and children, Larry (Jean) Ripke of Liberty Center, Ohio, Ted (Jackie) Ripke of Ridgeville Corners, Anne (Glen) Thomas of St. Louis, Missouri, James (Pepin) Ripke of Gahanna, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and sister, Olga (Reverend Arthur) Senn of Port Washington, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Edwin Ripke, Ernest Ripke, Carl Ripke; and a sister, Clara Werling.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ridgeville Corners, with Pastor Alva Martis and Reverend Glen Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 3-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon, and on Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, one hour prior to services.
