Alfreda M. Brenner, 93, of Defiance, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013, at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.

She was born in Ney, Ohio, on June 10, 1919, the daughter of the late William and Clara (Dietrick) Boff. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers and Altar Society, and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She had worked in the cafeteria at Defiance High School. Alfreda married Alfred Brenner on May 25, 1938, and he died April 2, 1999. She enjoyed reading, baking and her family.

She will be missed by her daughters, Theresa (Melvin) Bortz of Holgate, Carolyn Mitchell of Defiance, Mary Ann (Martin) Buchman of Fort Wayne and Deborah (Mark) Zeller of Defiance; sons, Dave (Pat) Brenner of Defiance and Steve Brenner of Perrysburg. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; son, Gene; and daughter-in-law, Jeanie Brenner.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. John Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 7, with Father Todd Dominique officiating. Friends are invited to call Thursday from 2-8 p.m. at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, Defiance. A vigil service is at 7 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens.
