Patricia A. Deatrick, 66, of Defiance, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Mercy Hospital of Defiance.

She was born on November 25, 1946, the daughter of Martin and Pauline (Saunders) Viars in Gallipolis, Ohio. Pat was a member of St. John Catholic Church. She graduated from Holgate High School and obtained an associate's degree from Northwest State, bachelor's degree from the Defiance College, and on to Ohio State University, where she received her master's degree in social work. She started her counseling work at Maumee Valley Guidance Center. Pat continued counseling for Catholic Charities, First Call for Help in Napoleon, where she was clinical director, and for the last several years at ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital. Pat was a member of the Laughter Club, Elks, Eagles, VFW, Napoleon AMVETS and the Moose. She volunteered with the ADAMhs Board and the Red Cross board. Pat loved spending time with her family and friends.

Patricia is survived by sons, Chief Warrant Officer Jason Deatrick of Hawaii, Justin (Carrie) Deatrick of Cincinnati; daughter, Jessica Deatrick of Defiance; 16 grandchildren; fiancee, Patrick Bloomfield; brother, Doug Viars of Liberty Center; and her sister, Debra (Ron) Williams of Monclova.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at St. John Catholic Church, with Father Todd Dominique officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens.
