Vivian Ryan, 97, of Defiance, passed away on March 31, 2013, at GlennPark in Defiance.

She was born on Sept. 8, 1915, to Carol and Leona (Weisz) Baum in Ayersville. On March 20, 1937, she was married to Lewis (Luke) Gibler. He died in February 1960. On June 1, 1963, she married Alner D. Ryan; he died in September 1975. She was a floral designer for 30 years for Bohlmann Flowers, Patten Flowers and Wichman Flowers. She was a member of Wesley Service Circle at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, American Red Cross, Hospital Auxiliary, Business and Professional Women, Defiance College Women's Commission and YMCA.

Viv is survived by her children, Ruth Ann Blue of Bryan, Ohio, Robert (Pam) Gibler of Baton Rouge, La., and Gary (Jane) Gibler of Carmel, Ind.; a stepson, David Ryan of Defiance; a stepdaughter, Pat Weisgerber of Defiance; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Leona Baum; her first husband, Lewis Gibler; husband, Alner Ryan; granddaughter, Annette Blue; and siblings, Edie Benton, John Baum, Marge Feeney, Tood Lalonde and Sadie Ehrat.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013, from 10 a.m.-noon at Schaffer Funeral Home Inc., Defiance. Funeral services will be held on April 4, 2013, at noon at Schaffer Funeral Home Inc., with Rev. Michael Donnally officiating. Burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery in Defiance.
