TULSA, Okla. -- John Cole Miner was born on November 29, 1967, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Denver "Lucky" Eugene Miner II and Peggy Lee (Abernathy) Hughes. He passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2013.
John was survived by both his parents; three sons, Cole Miner II, Stone Edward Miner and Steel Denver Miner, of Defiance Ohio; one sister, Lesley Lee Creason and husband, Michael, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; and two brothers, Denver Eugene Miner III of Sequin, Texas, and Donald Colin Miner and wife, Jeana, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
John was a graduate of Okmulgee High School in 1986. He went on to become a professional water skier for Sea World San Antonio and Holiday Park in Hassloch, Germany, and many other European countries. John always pushed the envelope in water skiing, as well as life. John was an entrepreneur who started several businesses in Oklahoma, Texas and Ohio. John loved to build and work on cars, trucks, motorcycles and boats. A jack-of-all-trades, he was able to fix as many things as he broke.
Though he divorced and was separated from his children in Ohio, he loved and treasured them regardless of the many obstacles that clouded his life. John had a magnetic personality and shared his love of life with his family and friends. Few people on this Earth get to experience life like John did, and even though his light burned out early, it burned brighter than the sun while he was here.
A service was held to celebrate the life of John Cole Miner on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, with Pastor John Bugg leading the service. Pallbearers were his three boys, Cole, Stone and Steel Miner, and brothers, Don and Denver Miner, along with his father, Lucky Miner.
Condolences or preferred memorials can be sent to the Miner boys, 14424 Karnes Road, Defiance, Ohio 43512.
