Thelma R. (Renaud) Brenner, 82, formerly of Ney, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at GlennPark of Defiance.

She was born near Stryker, Ohio, on March 14, 1931, to the late Elmer and Esther (Shaffer) Renaud, and graduated from Stryker High School in 1949. On January 14, 1950, she was united in marriage to Charles W. Brenner. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2011.

Thelma worked part time at Ney Post Office and was a clerk at Bryan Chief Supermarket for 25 years. She was a poll worker for the Defiance County Board of Elections for many years. Her lifelong love of music included playing the organ at St. Isidore (Marysdale) Catholic church for 35 years. She was a member of the Ney Get-Together Club and Marysdale Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens.

She is survived by four children, sons, Robert (Terri) Brenner of Defiance and Gregory (Nancy) Brenner of Tolland, Conn.; daughters, Susan (Richard) Singer of Bluffton, Ind., and Barbara (Mike Shellenberger) Rosebrock of Ney; grandchildren Brian (Brie) Brenner, Lindsey (fiancé Brandon McCann) Brenner, Matthew, Stephen and Heather Shonty, Bradley and Andrea Singer, and Evan and Valerie Rosebrock. A sister, Pauline Lantz, also survives.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Roberta Cooley, Florence Louys and Martha Beck.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, at St. Isidore (Marysdale) Catholic Church, 06324 Ohio 15, Defiance. Burial will be in Ney Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8:30 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 8 p.m., at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, Defiance. Visitation is also from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday before services at the church.
