Lois Kozumplik

BRYAN -- Lois M. Kozumplik, 91, of Bryan, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013, in her residence with her family surrounding her. She had recently been placed under the care of Hospital Hospice.

Mrs. Kozumplik was born November 19, 1921, in Liberty Center, Ohio. She was raised by her grandparents, James and Katie Burdue. She was a 1941 graduate of Liberty Center High School. Lois married Nicholas E. Kozumplik on October 4, 1947, in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on July 20, 2012. Lois began her career, working for the Ohio Unemployment Office. Lois worked in the cafeteria at St. Patrick Catholic School, retiring after 30 years of service as the cafeteria manager. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she was an organist for many years. She was a member of the Shamrock Circle and the Altar & Rosary Society. Lois also was formerly active with the Fairview Music Boosters and a former member of the Czech Club. Lois loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed listening to Czech music and she loved to polka.

Surviving are her four children, Nick (Barb) Kozumplik Jr. of Bryan, Kathy (John) Morrison of Fremont, Ohio, Michael (Susan) Kozumplik of Sherwood and Mary (Denny) Stemen of Bryan; 10 grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and her husband, Nick.

Funeral services for Lois M. Kozumplik will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 610 Portland Avenue, Bryan, with Father Jim Halleron officiating. Interment will follow in Ney Cemetery, Ney, Ohio. Visitation for Mrs. Kozumplik will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan. Scripture services will begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that any memorial tributes in the name of Lois M. Kozumplik be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church religious education program or to CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center, 06825 Ohio 66, Defiance, Ohio 43512.
