ARCHBOLD -- A lifelong resident of Fulton County, E. Jane Short died Saturday morning, March 16, 2013.
She was born November 29, 1924, in Wauseon, Ohio, the daughter of Irwin and Rose (Rupp) King. She attended Wheaton College and Bowling Green State University. She was a kindergarten/first-grade teacher at Pettisville, Ohio, for three years. She married Lowell E. Short on March 23, 1947, who preceded her in death on March 27, 2009.
Jane was a loving wife, mother of Barbara (Michael) Goble of Adrian, Mich., Samuel (Debra) Short of Lawton, Mich., Linda (Thom) Ross of Archbold, Ohio; grandmother to seven grandchildren; and great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren, who knew her as GG.
Jane was a member of the Archbold Evangelical Mennonite Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, Pioneer Club teacher and youth leader with Lowell for many years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and making afghans for each of her children and grandchildren. Jane spent winters in Florida and summers at the Short family cottage in Michigan. She especially enjoyed time with family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, sister, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
Visitation will be Monday, March 18, 2013, from 3-8 p.m. in the Fireside Room at Archbold Evangelical Church. Celebration of her life will be Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at the church.
