KALIDA -- Edward B. Giesige, 69, of Kalida, died at 1:44 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at his residence.
He was born May 30, 1943, in New Bavaria, to Richard Sr. and Inez (Kunesh) Giesige. His father is deceased, his mother survives in Leipsic. On October 2, 1965, he married Joan Wortkoetter, who survives in Kalida.
Also surviving are two children, Greg (Michelle) Giesige of Ottoville and Jill (David) Miehls of Kalida; one grandchild, Eyon Miehls; three brothers, Richard (Kathleen Gabe) Giesige Jr. of Ypsilanti, Mich., Thomas Giesige of Lima, and Anthony Giesige of New Bavaria.
He was also preceded in death by an infant brother and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Giesige.
Ed worked for General Motors, Defiance, for 12 years. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kalida, Kalida Fish and Game, the National Rifle Association, Continental American Legion and Tri-State Gun Collectors Association. He was a graduate of Hamler High School and a U.S. Navy veteran.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida, with Father Mark Hoying officiating. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where there will be a scripture service at 3 p.m.
