EVANSPORT -- Betty J. Henry, 86, of Evansport, passed away early Thursday morning, February 28, 2013, in her home.
She was born April 18, 1926, near Archbold, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Erbes) Rice. She married Myrl Henry on April 29, 1947, and he preceded her in death on December 15, 2010. A resident of the Evansport area since 1968, she was a homemaker, did upholstering in her home for many years, and was a volunteer at Sauder Village. She, with her husband, also hosted international exchange students for 12 years. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers. She was an active member and Sunday school teacher at St. John's Christian Church in Archbold.
She is survived by five children, Michael (Susan) Henry of Ridgeville Corners, Daniel (Mary) Henry and Thomas (Joetta) Henry, both of Evansport, Ted Henry of Fremont, Ind., and Ann (Ivon) Turmel of Herman, Maine; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bernice Rice of Archbold.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a great-grandson; a brother, Robert Rice; and a sister, Evelyn Hoffman.
Services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Christian Church with Pastors Erich Christman and Adam Just officiating. Interment will follow in the Archbold Cemetery. Friends may call at Short Funeral Home in Archbold from 2-8 p.m. Friday.
