Sheri Ann (Hartnett) Welling, 43, of Defiance, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.
She was born in Doylestown, Pa., on August 16, 1969, to William and Joyce (Massinger) Hartnett of Holden Beach, N.C.
Sheri is survived by her husband, Gary Welling Jr., who she married June 2, 2001; her parents, William and Joyce Hartnett; daughter, Savannah; sons, Connor and Dillon; brother, Billy (Mary Finney) Hartnett of Wilmington, N.C.; father and mother-in-law, Gary Sr. and Pamela Welling, Bryan; brothers-in-law, Sean (Amy) Welling of Bryan and Tyler (Carrie) Welling of Bryan; nephews, Jacob Hartnett, Masen and Bryce Welling; and special friends, Lynn and Jerry Fensler.
Sheri graduated from Jesse O. Sanderson High School, Raleigh, N.C., in 1987, and received a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina Charlotte in 1992, and the School of Nursing in 1994. After graduation, she was employed by the Carolinas Medical Center in the Trauma/ICU Department, Charlotte. Upon moving to Defiance in 2001, Sheri then became the manager of the Fresenius Dialysis Unit, Defiance. She will be missed by her staff. Sheri was a member of the First Church of God, Defiance.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at the First Church of God, 561 Carter Road, Defiance, with Revs. Larry Kennedy and Rick Rufenacht officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013, at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, and one hour prior to the funeral Tuesday at the church.
The family suggests memorials be directed toward a college fund for her children in care of First Federal Bank, Defiance.
