Eileen M. Hanker, 83, of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, OH.

She was born on July 6, 1929, to Merle and Bonita (Winover) Church at Liberty Center, OH. Eileen worked as a machinist for SK Handtool, Defiance OH, for 42 years. On Aug 9, 1952, she married Richard W. Hanker, who preceded her in death on January 17, 2012. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Defiance OH, Teamsters Union, life member of Thistle Down RC Club in Napoleon OH, and Air Zoo Museum, Kalamazoo MI.

Eileen is survived by her son, Stephen (Sheila) Hanker of Battle Creek, MI; five grandchildren, Sergio J. Chavez, Javier M. Chavez, Austin R. Mahan, Seth S. Hanker, and Shayna E. Hanker; three great-grandchildren, Trevor Chavez, Devon Chavez, and Layla Chavez; two sisters, Violet (Richard) Hatcher of Napoleon, OH, and Susan (James) Downs of Defiance, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Bridget Mahan; a brother, Marvin Church; and two sisters, Mary Swayne, and Orma Church.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 11, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, 11 a.m. at the St. John Catholic Church, Defiance, with Fr. Todd Dominique officiating. Burial will take place in the Riverview Memory Gardens.
