James Michael Brown, 69, of Defiance, passed away on January 25, 2013, at the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center, Defiance, Ohio.
He was born on May 16, 1943, to Anderson Alexander Brown and Mosella (Sumner) House in Indianapolis, Ind. He attended school at Crispus Attucks. James worked for Indy Lighting and Kroger Bakery in Indianapolis and Johns Manville in Defiance.
James is survived by his loving spouse of 48 years, Peggy A. (Collins) Brown; mother, Mosella House; and son, Michael Jeffery Brown, of Defiance; granddaughters, Brittney Morrow, Ciara Stovall and McKayla Brown and great-granddaughter, Amyah Pipes, all of Indianapolis, Ind.; sisters, Beverly Hall of Kokomo, Ind., and Janice Brown and brother, Dennis Weeden of Indianapolis, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his father, Anderson Alexander Brown; son, Timothy David Brown; and brother, Larry Harrison Brown.
Visitation in Defiance is Wednesday, January 30, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home Inc., Defiance. Visitation in Indianapolis, Ind., is Saturday, February 2, 2013, from 9-11 a.m. at Crown Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with burial immediately following at Crown Hill Cemetery. Minister Glenn Collins will officiate.
