BRYAN -- Paul E. Grimes, 78, of Bryan, and formerly of Stryker, died Sunday night, Jan. 20, 2013, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born April 27, 1934, in Stryker, to the late Howard and Tressie (Hawkins) Grimes. He was a graduate of Stryker High School. He married the former Shirley Whitaker on December 31, 1970, and she preceded him in death on January 16, 2005. Paul was a railroad engineer and also the owner of the former Red Rooster Restaurant in Stryker for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Stryker, Stryker Rotary and the Stryker Village Council. Paul was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include children, Rick (Lori) Jaggers of Orland, Ind., Kathy (Randy) Lloyd of Bryan, Bobbie (Jeff) Erb of Stryker and Lisa (Andy) Grime, Stryker; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois Dennis, Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sisters, Marlene Garber, Ilene Boothman, Ruth Fedderke and Esther Cook.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013, in First Baptist Church, Stryker, Ohio, with Pastor Daniel Douglass and Pastor Matthew Dodd officiating. Interment will follow in Evansport Cemetery. Luncheon will follow the cemetery services in the church. Graveside military services will be accorded by Stryker American Legion. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church, Stryker, Ohio.
