ARCHBOLD -- Willard E. Friley, 94, of Archbold, passed away Tuesday morning, January 1, 2013, at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon.
He was born June 15, 1918, near Marysville, the son of William and Clara (Shaffer) Friley. He married Wilma Welch on July 4, 1936, and she preceded him in death on June 10, 1995. A resident of the Archbold area many years, he was superintendent at Winorr Canning Co. in Wauseon and Bryan Canning Co. After retirement he worked at Archbold Container until he was 90. He was a member of the Exchange Club in Wauseon.
He is survived by three children, Chuck Friley of Bryan, Pat Allgire of Stryker, and Beth (Steve) Groff of Ashley, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Carol Henson; two sons-in-law, Marion Allgire, and William Henson; a great-granddaughter; four brothers, Albert and Ralph Friley, and two in infancy; and one infant sister.
Services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Archbold with Pastor Brad Faler officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
