W.J. 'Joe' Budgell

NAPOLEON -- W.J. "Joe" Budgell, 84, of Napoleon, died Saturday morning, December 22, 2012.

He was born April 6, 1928, in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland, Canada, to the late Enos and Margaret (Baron) Budgell. On April 26, 1952, he married Olive Hammond in Toronto, Canada, and she preceded him in death on July 2, 1979.

Joe worked for the Campbell Soup Company for over 41 years. He moved to Napoleon in 1957 from Toronto to work at the new plant and retired as third-shift plant manager. He was a faithful member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Napoleon. During his time in Napoleon, he was active in various community and church activities. Joe will be greatly missed by his family.

He is survived by his children, Stuart (Grace) Budgell of Canada, Joanne (Jesse) Pait of Georgia, Stephen (Jackie) Budgell of Tennessee, Patricia (Marvin) Gerschutz of Ohio, Meredith (Richard) Mennona of Ohio and Leslie Budgell, Ohio; grandchildren, Amanda (Doug) McQuillen, Glenn (Natasha) Budgell, Mark Budgell, Benjamin (Stephanie) Kelly, Olivia Gerschutz, Shaun McQuillen and Joseph Mennona; great-granddaughter, Lylah Budgell; and sisters, Sheila Snow of Canada, Jean Clarke of Canada and Janet (Ray) Hancock, Canada.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Budgell.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Episcopal Church, Napoleon. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon.
