  • Rick was my favorite customer, actually he was my favorite customer that i have ever encountered at any establishment that i have ever worked at. Gruff on the outside, but once you got to know him the kindest man i have ever encountered. He would do anything for someone who he considered his friend. The highlight of my day was Rick and i teasing each other for about 20 minutes after he walked in the door. Often it was the same jokes from both of us but the were just as funny every time we said them. He was not only a customer, he was one of my dearest friends. He could connect with every customer from age 21 to 100, and because of that he will be remembered for many years to come. Rick was A Marine, Rick was a Vietnam Vet. Rick was a retired GM employee. Rick was the biggest supporter of Downtown Defiance businesses there was. Rick was someone I looked up to. Miami and Erie and All of Defiance will never be the same without him. • We are saddened to read of the passing of our friend, Rick. Alvan worked with him in Danville - and the friendship kept up after we moved to Defiance. We didn't see Rick often, but tried to keep in touch. He had a good heart - and was willing to give and support any one who he considered a friend. Our sympathy to his family in Illinois.
