Carlos O. Esparza, 64, of Defiance, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012, at Brookview Health Care in Defiance.
Carlos was born December 22, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, to Charles and Anna (Ordaz) Esparza. He married Ellen G. Villarreal on February 14, 1970, in San Antonio. Carlos was a ceramic tile setter for the San Antonio Housing Authority for 21 years, retiring in 2004. Carlos was also an ordained minister. They then moved back to Defiance. Carlos enjoyed reading, taking long walks, watching movies and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Ellen of Defiance; five daughters, Valerie (Eddie Macias) Esparza of Chicago, Ill., Connie Esparza of San Antonio, Texas, Sarah Esparza of Daytona Beach, Fla., Rachael (Joshua) Hernandez of Fort Campbell, Ky., and Megan Esparza of Defiance; four sons, Marcelino Esparza of Columbus, Ohio, Demetrius Esparza of Pleasanton, Texas, and Matthew and Michael Esparza, both of Defiance; 18 grandchildren; his mother, Anna Esparza of Defiance, as well as three brothers and five sisters.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Esparza; and two brothers.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 N. Lynn St., Bryan, where funeral services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Antonio Rosales officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.
