CONTINENTAL -- Lawrence "Larry/Sonny" B. McCullough, 85, of Continental, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Bridge Hospice, Bowling Green.

He was born on May 14, 1927, to Lawrence and Jennie (Kretzinger) McCullough in Putnam County, Ohio. Larry first married Margaret Carncross and they had four children who survive: daughter, Carol (Bob) Baker of Brant Lake, N.Y.; son, Michael (Judith) McCullough of San Francisco, Calif.; and daughters, Patrice Jackson of Berkely, Calif., and Edythe (David) Stocking of Fort Wayne, Ind. He then married Lodema Brown Pletcher in 1969 and she preceded him in death in 2010. He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Sheila McNally and Bob Miller, both of Bloomdale, Ohio; six grandsons and four great-grandchildren; and his cat, Shawn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lodema; and three sisters, Elma Lee, Catherine Lee and Norma McCullough.

Larry was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school and served as an usher. He graduated from Oakwood High School in 1945 and was drafted into the U.S. Army shortly after. He was a beekeeper and a founding member of the NW Ohio Beekeeper Association. Larry loved gardening and traveling. He was a carpenter for McDonald Construction for over 30 years and a member of the union.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2012, from 2-8 p.m. at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home and on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Defiance, with Rev. Joe Graves officiating. Burial with military rites provided by the U.S. Army will be in McComb Cemetery.
