PAYNE -- O'Dell C. Williams, 87, of Payne, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at The Gardens of Paulding.
O'Dell was born in Payne on July 18, 1925, a son of the late Gladys (Zartman) and Vernon Williams. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He worked at Armstrong Implement in Payne and had been the mayor and fire chief of Payne. O'Dell was a member of St. Jacob's United Church of Christ, the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge 580 and Payne American Legion Post 297. In December 1946, he married Helen Gibson, who died in December 2004.
He will be sadly missed by his sons, Dennis (Deborah) of Payne and David of Indianapolis; brother, Keith (Mary), Payne; and granddaughter, Carrie, Payne.
Also preceding him in death was his son, Jimmy.
Viewing is Friday from 4-8 p.m., with Masonic rites at 7 p.m. at Dooley Funeral Home, 202 W. River Street, Antwerp. His service is at St. Jacob's United Church of Christ, Payne, at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012, with viewing one hour prior. Rev. James Langham will officiate. He will be laid to rest at Lehman Cemetery, with military honors.
