BRYAN -- Esta L. Perdue, 85, of Bryan, went to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family on Friday afternoon, December 7, 2012, in the Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center where she had been a resident for 17 years.
She was born May 24, 1927, in Allen County, and was the daughter of Edward and Hazel (Mason)
On November 17, 1945, she married Ralph Perdue and he preceded her in death August 9, 1980.
Esta is survived by her seven children, daughter Carolyn (Harold) Rex of Cecil, son William (Karen) Perdue of Defiance, daughter Virginia "Ginny" (Ronald Martin) Goebel of Stryker, son Michael (Elaine) Perdue of Stryker, son Jeff (Beth) Perdue of Defiance, son David (Karen Sue) Perdue of Bryan, and daughter Nancy (Mike) Goebel of Stryker; 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward Dunlap of Michigan and James (Judy) Dunlap of Williams Center; and four sisters, Ruby (Ted) Reagle of Alvordton, OH, Thelma (Roy) Stecher of Bryan, Zelma (Bill) Blakely of Bryan and Cathy (Bob) Dancer of Ft. Wayne, IN.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Matthew Perdue; and two sisters, Helen Ladd and Edna Harmon LaRue.
Esta was a member of the New Hope Church, Bryan. She enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. Esta loved talking to people and ministering to them in the nursing home. She truly enjoyed being with her family.
Family will receive friends on Monday, December 10, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Eric Burkhardt from the Life Changing Realities Fellowship. Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery, Continental.
