WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Gabriele F. Giuliani, 59, passed away peacefully at his home on Nov. 22, 2012, in West Lafayette, after a 12-year battle with cancer.
A native of Ascoli Piceno, Italy, he began his study of physics at the Scuola Normale in Pisa. Professor Giuliani joined the department of physics faculty of Purdue University in 1984, as a member of the Condensed Matter Group. His field of research was the intriguing properties of two-dimensional electronic systems.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Pamela Wilhelm-Guiliani, and their children, Daniela, Adriana and Guiseppe Giuliani. In Italy, Professor Giuliani is survived by his mother, Angela Giuliani; his brother, Alessandro Giuliani; and his sister, Carla Cutolo. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfredo Giuliani.
