LEESBURG, Fla. -- David Ross Garen, 74, of Leesburg, Florida, was born in Canton, Ohio, to David H. and Hazel V. Garen. He died November 20, 2012.
David graduated from Bowling Green State University. He married Cletah M. Dudgeon in 1959. David enjoyed a career with the Social Security Administration in Defiance, Ohio. He retired to Florida in 1997 with his wife to enjoy their version of "paradise." David pitched horseshoes competitively, traveling around the country and Canada to participate in the World Horseshoe Pitching Tournaments. He loved volunteering for several community organizations and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. David was a member of the Elks and attended the First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cletah, in 2009; his parents and sister, Linda Campbell.
David is survived by his children, Lisa (Jeff) Fowler, Darla (Ashraff) Rampersaud, Marcia Close, Teresa (Herberth) Garen-Corrales; eight grandchildren; and his sister, Joan (Jim) VanDeventer.
