Carroll Diemer

Carroll Laurence Diemer, 91, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at GlennPark of Defiance.

He was born on September 13, 1921, to Louis John and Nellie (Clark) Diemer in New Bavaria, Ohio. He married Helen M. Longsmith on May 21, 1949, at St. John Lutheran Church, and she preceded him in death in 1993. Carroll was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He graduated from Holgate High School where he played on the 1937 baseball state championship team and was a loyal Cubs fan. He was a timekeeper at GM, retiring 20+ years ago. Carroll was a World War II Army veteran and a life member of VFW Post 8847, in New Bavaria, Ohio.

Surviving him are his son, Dennis C. Diemer of Wichita, Kan.; grandsons, Mitchel (Heather) Diemer of Florence, Kan., Kevin Diemer of Wichita, Kan.; great-grandchildren, Brighton and Sterling Diemer of Florence, Kan.; and sister-in-law, Violet Diemer of Holgate, Ohio.

Carroll was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen; his parents; sisters, Edna Adams and Ladonna Keeran Diemer; brothers, Florian Diemer, Raymon "Bunce" Diemer, Nick Diemer and Donavan "Babe" Diemer.

Visitation will be held today, November 23, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, and Saturday, November 24, 2012, from 10-11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance, Ohio, with Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
