ARCHBOLD -- William J. "Bill" Henson, 74, of Archbold, passed away Friday evening, November 9, 2012, at the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.
He was born May 11, 1938, in Phillipsburg, Missouri, the son of Calvin and Nora (Teigue) Henson. He married Carol Friley on May 4, 1957, and she preceded him in death on February 8, 2009. A resident of the Archbold area since 1964, he worked at Young Spring & Wire/Leggett & Platt in Archbold for 44 years. He enjoyed camping and bowling and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a former member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.
He is survived by three children, Jim (Joanne) Henson of Bryan, Cindy Henson of Charlotte, N.C., and Joe (Cindy) Henson of Lyons; four grandchildren, Adam, Justin (Michelle) and Jamie Henson, and Terri Jo (Tyler) Hamilton; two great-grandchildren, Tegan and Jade Hamilton; one brother, Robert (Eileen) Henson of Adrian, Mich.; one sister, Wilma Gould of Morenci, Mich.; and father-in-law, Willard Friley of Archbold.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the North Clinton Mennonite Church, Wauseon, with Pastor Brad Faler officiating. Interment will precede at 9:30 a.m. in the Archbold Cemetery. Friends may call at Short Funeral Home in Archbold from 2-8 p.m. Monday.
