PAULDING -- Joe Melchor, 82, Paulding, died November 8, 2012, at Paulding County Hospital, Paulding, Ohio.
He was born in Waelder, Texas, on August 3, 1930, the son of Isabel and Concepion (Hernandez) Melchor. On June 2, 1956, he married Josephine Galindo, who preceded him in death on August 20, 2005. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War, and was employed by GM Powertrain, Defiance, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, Paulding.
He is survived by a son, Thomas P. (Jane) Melchor, Leo, Ind.; a daughter, Susan M. (Mickey) Glanemann, Paulding; six sisters, Polly Vargas of Katy, Texas, Narcy Delgado and Mary Guiterrez, both of Defiance, Louisa Lopez of Gonzalez, Texas, and Margaret Melchor and Martha Melchor, both of Houston, Texas; four brothers, Alonzo Melchor of Houston, Texas, and Lacho Melchor, Oscar Melchor and Sam Melchor, all of Waelder, Texas; three grandchildren, Mark and Amy Glanemann and Drew Conley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two brothers, Isabel and Henry Melchor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, Paulding, with Rev. G. Allan Fillman officiating. Burial will follow in Paulding Memorial Cemetery, Paulding, with military graveside rites conducted by Paulding VFW Post 587. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Today, November 12, at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.
