Marna L. Powell, 84, of Defiance passed away early Saturday morning, October 13, 2012, in the CHP Defiance Area In-patient Hospice Center.
She was born January 25, 1928, in Ft. Wayne, Ind., and was the daughter of Ernest and Edith (Meads) Farrell. On September 6, 1947, she married Richard Powell and he preceded her in death on May 1, 2007.
Marna is survived by a daughter, Sue (John) Baker of Ayersville; three sons, Richard (Coleen) Powell of Lithia, Fla., Gary (Lisa) Powell of Defiance, Kevin (Sharon) Powell of Mentor, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She has lived in Defiance for over 60 years. Marna was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and worked for 21 years for the Stauffer-Mendenhall Insurance Agency until her retirement in 1993. She attended regular meetings of the CCL for many years.
Marna is preceded in death by her parents and husband Richard.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 1 p.m. in the St. John United Church of Christ with Rev. Sam Schroeder and Rev. Dr. Bill Nirote officiating. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service starting at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Burial will follow in Riverview Memory Gardens.
