Wilmer 'Bill' Short

ARCHBOLD -- Wilmer "Bill" Short, 96, of Archbold, passed away Monday morning, October 8, 2012, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.

He was born December 22, 1915, near Archbold, the son of Ezra and Mary (Wyse) Short, and married L. Jane Spiess on September 29, 1940. They recently celebrated 72 years together. A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, he farmed and worked as a mechanic for Rich's Ford Dealership. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a member of St. John's Christian Church in Archbold.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; one daughter, Sue Steiner-Kinsman (Mert) of Archbold; two grandsons, Jeffrey J. Leininger of Maumee and Neil J. (Kimm) Leininger of Chardon; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Letha Beck of Archbold; and a sister-in-law, Nola Short of Archbold.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Earl J. Short, Glen Short and Chester Short.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel at St. John's Christian Church with Pastors Erich Christman and Adam Just officiating. Interment will follow in the Pettisville Cemetery. Friends may call at Fairlawn Chapel from 3-7 p.m. Thursday. Short Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with the arrangements.
